Course S1: Basics of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)

This course can be held either at your premises using your equipment, or at our own premises in Suffolk, England. Most people attending these courses are likely to have an SEM or to be in the process of obtaining one; there is an evident advantage in being trained on your own equipment and we normally recommend this.

A course would typically cover the function of the basic components of the SEM; secondary and backscattered electron imaging; specimen preparation; basics of X-ray microanalysis, basic user maintenance.

As there are so many potential variables for a general SEM programme, a more detailed suggested programme can be provided on an individual basis, depending on factors such as the equipment to be used, location, attendees' background knowledge, materials to be etc..
